Hey y’all, it’s been a minute since I’ve checked in. I hope you’re taking good care of yourselves.
Life is hard right now. People’s lives are being threatened (and ended) through genocide, political violence, and oppressive legislation — specifically Palestinians, immigrants, and trans people. (If you want to get involved/stay up-to-date with the latest without doomscrolling, I recommend subscribing to Reimagined here.)
To be honest, Spring is not what I expected it to be for a number of reasons. When I planned out my year in January, the title I put on this season was “Fun and Fabulous.” Lol. I don’t think anyone is having a fun or fabulous time at the moment, except maybe the absolute worst people you know.
Instead, Spring was marked by a lot of change, chaos, grief, and my therapist asking, “Do you have a psychiatrist you work with? It may be time to up your meds.”
Alas, life continues to go on. Bills still need to be paid. And I’m trying my best to clutch onto any kind of supportive system I have in my toolkit to comfort me and maybe, even for one moment, enjoy myself? All I can say is thank god for Zoloft and Love Island US.
Here are some ideas for simple ways to take care of yourself when things are overwhelming:
🌸 Reflecting on Spring goals
Here are the goals I set for myself/my business + how they went:
✅ A private newsletter for fellow admin/ops people who are working for themselves. We started! And it feels like to perfect time and place to commiserate with each other and support one another. We still have a few spots open. If you are an admin/ops solopreneur, we’d love to have you. Reach out to be added or if you have any questions: hello@typec-creative.com
❣️ Recalibrating my weekly/daily schedule. This has been a labor of love. I traveled a lot and moved into a new house in May/June, which means my schedule has been out of sorts for over a month now. I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine to help ground me over the next few weeks.
✅ Google Workspace alternatives. I moved to Proton for my business email. It’s been a labor of love but I have no regrets! I wrote a little bit about it here and hope to create a how-to guide for Rebellious Systems this year. Fuck Google for real.
❣️ Business model and marketing stuff. I didn’t get nearly as much done on this as I’d hoped but I know this is a process. Truthfully, my business model is no longer sustainable for me. I think it took me an entire season just to admit that, and now it’s time to do something about it.
🌀 Systems for nourishment. Similar to my schedule, traveling and moving have made this feel next to impossible. It’s a process!
🌞 Things I’m exploring this Summer
Last weekend I had the pleasure of supporting Lindsay Mack at their Soul Led Tarot retreat in Boone, NC. One thing they named that I will take with me forever is how fiercely I embrace Queen of Swords energy. While I make space for connection and openness, I set boundaries and make no apologies.
I feel that energy very strongly as we approach the summer. Clear communication and boundaries that will (hopefully) create stronger connections (not just with others but also with myself).
That includes:
Restructuring my business. Like I said, my business model is no longer sustainable for me. I’ve felt it in my body for a while before acknowledging it consciously and now I have some decisions to make. I’m excited to start working with Giada this summer and participate in
CREATE program.Back to basics. Morning and nighttime routines, daily walks, trying to drink more water. My body and mind need support in recovering from the first half of the year.
What have you noticed recently about yourself or your business? What systems have felt supportive right now? What do you want to focus on this Summer? Would love to hear your thoughts 💗
Peace, love, and Happy Pride!
